We support the below meter types and can switch around 97% of households in the UK!
Standard
This is the most common meter type also known as single-rate, domestic, or profile class 01. Standard meters will have one row of numbers on the display.
Economy 7
Economy 7 meters will have two rows of numbers to separately record your electricity usage during day and night or a Low (Night) and Normal (Day) label.
This meter type is also known as a dual rate meter or a profile class 02.
Smart
Smart meters automatically send your energy usage information over wireless networks to your supplier. For more information, see this helpful article.
Prepayment
These are the meters where energy is paid for in advance. They will have a key or a top-up card.
Related meters
If you have more than one electricity or gas meter at your property - we might be able to switch you! Simply get in touch and we can work with you to find out what is best.
At the moment, our service does not interact with the below meter types:
Economy 10
This meter type is similar to Economy 7 but instead of calculating day and night usage, it will calculate 10 hours of cheaper rate electricity throughout the day.
Total Heating Total Control (THTC)
You might have this meter type if your home is electricity only and you live in the north of Scotland. There will be two meters at the property and one will connect to electric storage heaters.
Business
This meter type is also known as profile class 03/04 and is mostly used for commercial properties.
If you think you might have a business meter, let us know by emailing team@switchd.co.uk and we will discuss what switching options are available!
