You have found a deal that seems better than the one you're currently on, so why haven't we switched you yet? Our algorithm takes many things into consideration before we switch to ensure its the best thing to do for you. Here are some of the reasons why.
Savings too low
We will only switch you to a deal that will save you your selected minimum saving requirement. As a default, that is £50 a year. If it is a penny below your savings requirement, we will wait until a better deal becomes available. You can change your minimum yearly savings from £25 to £200 at any time. Just go to your Switchd Settings on your dashboard.
Deal end date
Sometimes, it is best for us to wait until your current deal comes to an end before we switch you. This may be because there are exit fees which would diminish any potential savings. For example, there may be a new deal available that is £80 cheaper a year than your current one. But your current deal also has £60 early exit fees, meaning you would only save £20 in total! So we wouldn't switch you.
Therefore, providing the correct contract end date when initially signing up to Switchd is really important. If you notice that the end date on your Switchd Dashboard doesn’t match the one on your bill, let us know and we can get that updated so our algorithm has all the right information. We will not switch you if your current tariff includes exit fees and you have selected to only switch when the exit fees no longer apply. Check out this article about understanding your Switchd settings.
If you are happy for us to start a switch when the exit fees still apply we will calculate the optimum time to switch so that the saving is greater than the exit fees. Or if the deal you are currently on is coming to an end, we will often make a better saving by waiting until the exit fees are waived!
Some energy suppliers will offer exclusive tariffs available through other switching services that receive a commission.
We do not take a commission from suppliers and will always remain on the side of our customers.
This way, we can find tariffs that are truly the cheapest and save an average £109 more than our free competitors!
We exclude switches to some energy supplier. This is either because they do not provide the best switching experience for our customers or because they do not support automated switching.
By regularly reviewing the list of suppliers we switch our customers to, we can prevent switches to suppliers who gives a cheap deal at the expense of more hassle.
